Staying here means you are never more than a short drive from world-class Rioja wineries, the Sierra de la Demanda mountains, and the medieval villages of the Rioja Alavesa. The city itself is compact and walkable, accommodation is affordable relative to Madrid or San Sebastián, and the food and wine scene rewards anyone who takes the time to slow down and explore properly.

• Historic Centre (Casco Antiguo): The obvious choice for first-time visitors and food lovers. Calle del Laurel and Calle San Juan are the engines of Logroño's famous pintxos culture, the cathedral of Santa María de la Redonda is steps away, and most of the hotels in the city sit within or just beside this compact zone. Walkability is excellent.
• Calle Portales and the Market Area: The main commercial artery of the old town, lined with cafes, local shops, and the Mercado de San Blas. A good base if you want easy access to daily life alongside the tourist highlights. Several well-rated hotels are located directly on or near this street.
