Hotels in Cologne: Where to Stay in 2025

Cologne is one of Germany's oldest cities, founded as a Roman colony and still anchored by its twin-spired Cathedral, the Kölner Dom, which took over 600 years to complete and remains the tallest structure in the city. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a courtyard-facing room or consider Altstadt-Süd or Ehrenfeld instead.
• Spring and autumn are the sweet spots for weather: July and August bring warm temperatures but also the heaviest tourist numbers. April, May, September, and October offer mild weather, manageable crowds, and generally better hotel availability outside fair periods.
