Why traveller ratings matter in Lucerne
Lucerne is one of Switzerland's most visited cities, drawing visitors with its medieval Old Town, iconic Chapel Bridge, and sweeping Alpine backdrop. With so many hotels competing for attention, real traveller scores cut through the marketing noise and reflect genuine guest experience, covering everything from service warmth and room comfort to location convenience and value for the rate paid. The hotels listed here have been filtered and ranked solely by those verified traveller scores, giving you an honest starting point for your search.
A selection for every style, anchored in quality
The highest-rated options in Lucerne sit predominantly in the historic centre and along the lakeshore, where guests benefit from direct access to the city's key landmarks. One standout exception is Hotel Pilatus Kulm, perched on the summit of Mount Pilatus above Kriens, roughly 3 kilometres from the city, offering a completely different kind of stay for those who want an alpine experience with equally high guest satisfaction. Whether your priority is a prestigious address on the lake, a well-located four-star in the Old Town, or a more budget-conscious three-star that still delivers on comfort, this ranked list gives you a reliable guide rooted in what fellow travellers actually reported.

Frequently asked questions
Which hotel in Lucerne has the highest traveller rating?+

Are there highly rated hotels in Lucerne's historic centre specifically?+
Yes. Both Hotel Des Balances and Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern are situated in the historic centre and each carries a 4.8/5 traveller score. Hotel Des Balances is a four-star option, while Hotel Schweizerhof Luzern is a five-star address, so guests have a choice of standing and rate within the same area.
Is there a well-rated hotel option in Lucerne that is more affordable?+
Hotel Central Luzern, a three-star property, achieves a 4.6/5 traveller score, which places it in line with several four-star competitors on this list. It represents the most accessible starting rate among the top-rated selections, making it worth considering if budget is a priority without wanting to compromise on guest satisfaction.
What makes Hotel Pilatus Kulm different from the other highly rated hotels near Lucerne?+
Hotel Pilatus Kulm sits at the summit of Mount Pilatus, above the town of Kriens approximately 3.2 kilometres from Lucerne, rather than in the city itself. Its 4.8/5 traveller rating matches the best city-centre options, but the experience is defined by alpine scenery and the novelty of sleeping at altitude, reached by the world's steepest cogwheel railway. It suits travellers who want to combine a Lucerne visit with an immersive mountain stay.
