Getting around is straightforward: the town center is flat and pedestrian-friendly, regional buses connect to Toulon and Bandol, and the nearest TGV station (Toulon) is about 20 minutes by car. Staying in Sanary itself means you can walk to almost everything, which is exactly the point.

• Port and Town Center: The obvious first choice for first-time visitors. Restaurants, the covered market, boat trips to the Embiez islands, and the main beach are all within a short walk. Expect higher demand in July and August.
• Portissol: A quieter residential area on the eastern edge of town, closest to the Portissol beach, which is one of the cleaner sandy spots in the area. Good for families who want a calmer base with easy beach access.
• La Gorguette: A coastal strip southeast of the center with a long beach and a more low-key feel. Practical if you prioritize beach proximity over village atmosphere.
• Six-Fours-les-Plages (nearby): Technically a separate commune about 4 km west, but often treated as part of the same coastal strip. More options for accommodation and parking, with direct road access to Sanary. A reasonable base if central Sanary is fully booked or over budget.
• La Seyne-sur-Mer (nearby): Around 10 km northeast toward Toulon, this working port town offers budget-friendly stays and ferry connections to Toulon. Best for travelers combining Sanary with a broader Var itinerary.

• Book early for summer: July and August are extremely busy on this stretch of coast. Rooms in Sanary itself are limited in number, and the best-rated properties fill weeks in advance. Aim to book at least two months ahead for peak season.
• Arrive by train via Toulon: The closest TGV station is Toulon, served by direct trains from Paris (roughly 4 hours 30 minutes). From Toulon, regional buses (Var-lib network, line 8010 toward Bandol) stop in Sanary, or a taxi takes about 20 minutes.
• Driving and parking: If you are driving, note that the town center has limited and paid parking in summer. Many hotels on the outskirts or in nearby Six-Fours offer private parking, which is worth checking at booking time.
• Shoulder season is excellent value: May, June, and September offer warm water, full restaurant schedules, and noticeably lower rates. October can still be mild and is ideal for hiking the coastal paths without crowds.
