Hotels in Collioure: Where to Stay in 2025

Collioure sits at the foot of the Albères mountains where they meet the Mediterranean, roughly 25 kilometres south of Perpignan and just a few kilometres from the Spanish border. The village is small enough to walk everywhere, yet rich enough in character to hold your attention for several days: a 13th-century royal castle, a fortified church that doubles as a lighthouse, vineyards tumbling down to the sea, and a colour palette that once inspired Matisse and Derain to invent Fauvism on these very quays.

Staying in Collioure means accepting a trade-off that most visitors find entirely worth it. The village has no large resort infrastructure, parking is limited and expensive in summer, and streets are narrow and hilly. What you get in return is immediate immersion: morning coffee facing the anchovy boats, evening walks along the ramparts, and the particular golden light that made this corner of the Côte Vermeille famous. Book early for July and August, and consider the shoulder seasons (May, June and September) for lower prices and calmer streets.

• Historic Centre (Vieux Collioure): Ideal for first-time visitors who want to step outside and be immediately in the action. Cobbled lanes, the castle, the beach of the Boramar, and the best tapas bars are all within a two-minute walk. Hotels here tend to be boutique and book out fast in summer.
• Seafront and Port Area: The flat strip along the harbour is the most photogenic address in town. You are metres from the water, the morning fish market and the restaurant terraces. Expect a premium on rooms and more pedestrian traffic during peak season.
• Hillside (above the castle and towards Mourèze): A short uphill walk from the centre delivers quieter streets, better parking and occasional sea views. A good choice for couples and travellers who prefer to stroll down to the beach rather than sleep next to it.
• Route de Port-Vendres (southern approach): The road heading south towards Port-Vendres passes a handful of hotels and residences set slightly outside the village core. You gain space and easier car access while remaining under 10 minutes on foot from the castle.
• Perpignan area (20-22 km): If Collioure is fully booked or the budget is tight, Perpignan and its southern suburbs offer chain hotels with good transport links. The train between Perpignan and Collioure takes about 20 minutes and runs regularly, making a day-trip or late-night return perfectly feasible.

• Book at least 2 to 3 months ahead for July and August. Collioure has fewer than 5,000 residents and a finite number of rooms. The most central and highly rated properties sell out well before the summer solstice.
• Arrive by train if you can. The Collioure station sits just north of the village centre and is served by TER regional trains from Perpignan (around 20 minutes) and from Barcelona via Cerbère. Avoiding a car eliminates the parking problem entirely.
• If you drive, confirm parking in advance. On-street parking in the village is almost non-existent in summer. Ask your hotel about their parking arrangements or nearest paid car parks before arrival.
• Target May, June or September for the best balance. Sea temperatures are comfortable, the light is excellent for photography, restaurant terraces are open, and both prices and crowds are noticeably lower than in July and August.
• Pack light footwear with grip. The streets of Collioure are made of smooth, often steep cobblestones that can be slippery, especially after the frequent summer showers that roll in from the Albères.
