Zermatt is entirely car-free, so no private vehicle can enter the village at all. Visitors drive or take the motorway to Täsch, park there, and board the frequent Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn shuttle train for the final 12-minute leg into Zermatt. Electric taxis and horse-drawn carriages are available for luggage or shorter trips if needed.
