Affordable Hotels in Malmö: Where to Stay Without Overspending
Malmö is one of Sweden's most accessible and walkable cities, and finding a cheap place to sleep does not require major compromises. The smartest budget move is looking just outside the city center: the university town of Lund sits only 12 minutes away by regional train, and it hosts several of the lowest-priced options in the area, with rates starting at 70€ per night for a 3-star property. Within Malmö itself, neighborhoods like Gamla staden and Centrum offer mid-range hotels in the high 80s per night, keeping you close to the main sights, restaurants, and public transport.
Budget Neighborhoods and Practical Tips
If you are flexible on location, consider properties near Malmö Sturup Airport in Svedala or the quieter commune of Vellinge, both of which appear among the more affordable picks in this selection. Apartment-style accommodations such as Finn Apartments in Lund give you access to a kitchenette, which can noticeably reduce daily food spending. Traveling Monday to Thursday generally yields lower room rates than weekends, when leisure visitors fill the city. Booking a few weeks in advance and choosing properties with free cancellation also gives you the flexibility to rebook if prices drop closer to your travel date.
