• Le Port and La Garenne: Ideal for those who want a lively waterfront. The pleasure-boat harbour is lined with seafood restaurants, and the public gardens of La Garenne are just above. A flat ten-minute walk from the train station.
• Presqu'île de Conleau: A quiet residential peninsula reaching into the Gulf, about 4 km from the centre. Perfect for families or anyone who wants a calmer base with direct Gulf views and a small beach.
• Plescop (northern suburbs): A suburban commune directly north of Vannes, well served by road. Quieter and more affordable, suited to car travelers who do not need to be in the heart of the action every evening.
• Theix-Noyalo area (Gulf shore, approx. 10 km): For guests who prioritize Gulf-side scenery over urban convenience. Accessible by car; good starting point for oyster-farm visits and boat trips from smaller embarkation points.

• Arrive by train if you can. Vannes station sits about 800 m from the walled city and is served by TGV from Paris Montparnasse in roughly three hours. Parking inside or near the Vieille Ville is scarce in July and August.
• Book Gulf island excursions in advance in summer. Ferries to the Île-aux-Moines, Île d'Arz, and longer trips to Belle-Île fill up quickly between late June and early September. Many tour operators are based at the port, a short walk from most central hotels.
