• Use the tram network: Nantes has three tram lines and several Busway routes that connect most visitor destinations efficiently. A 24-hour or 48-hour pass (TAN network) is more cost-effective than buying individual tickets if you plan to move around the city.
• Book early for major events: The Hellfest festival (Clisson, 45 min away), the Voyage à Nantes summer arts trail and European football fixtures at La Beaujoire cause sharp spikes in hotel availability. Book at least 6–8 weeks ahead for these dates.
• Best season to visit: Late spring (May–June) and early autumn (September–October) offer the most comfortable temperatures and the fewest crowds. July and August are lively but busier; the Voyage à Nantes (July–August) adds cultural value but also fills hotels faster.
• Airport to city centre: Nantes Atlantique Airport is approximately 8 km south-west of the city centre. The TAN Air shuttle bus connects the airport to the central Commerce tram stop in around 20–25 minutes. Taxis and ride-hailing services are also readily available.
