Cap d'Antibes adds a separate dimension: a forested peninsula of villa estates and quiet beaches where some of the Riviera's most storied hotels have stood for over a century. • Vieil Antibes (Old Town): Best for travellers who want to walk everywhere. Cobblestone lanes, daily food market, rampart promenades and a dense choice of restaurants within minutes. The Royal Antibes is the standout hotel here.
• Cap d'Antibes: A pine-covered peninsula south of the city centre, known for discreet luxury, crystalline coves (Plage de la Garoupe) and grand Belle Époque hotels. • Arrive by train, not by car: The Antibes SNCF station sits between the old town and Juan-les-Pins and is served by frequent TER trains from Nice (25 min), Cannes (12 min) and Monaco (45 min). Parking in the old town in July and August is genuinely painful, so consider leaving the car behind entirely.
• Book Cap d'Antibes hotels early: The peninsula's top properties fill months in advance for July and August. If you are targeting a 5-star stay during high summer, locking in a reservation in late winter is not excessive.
• Shoulder season is underrated: May, June and September offer warm water, full services and significantly less congestion than July-August. Prices at most hotels drop noticeably and restaurant reservations become much easier to secure.
• Use the Biot or Antibes market days wisely: The Cours Masséna market runs every morning except Monday. If your stay includes a morning there, plan a slow breakfast in the old town rather than trying to rush to a beach before noon.
• Cap d'Antibes beaches require a short ride: The Plage de la Garoupe and the hotel beaches on the cape are 3-5 km from the old town. Renting a bike for the day or using a taxi works well; the road around the cape is scenic but narrow and cycling requires some caution in peak traffic.
