The city divides naturally into a dense historic center, a creative and working-class west bank (Triana), a leafy residential north (Macarena) and a more modern southern stretch toward the María Luisa Park. Each pocket has its own identity, price range and noise level. Whether you book a room in a century-old palacio or a self-contained apartment on the edge of the city, orienting yourself before you arrive will save you time and energy on the ground.

• Santa Cruz (Barrio de Santa Cruz): the tourist heart, for first-timers who want the Cathedral, the Alcázar and the best tapas bars on their doorstep. Expect narrow lanes, charming patios and some nighttime noise.
• El Arenal: between the bullring and the river, slightly calmer than Santa Cruz, well connected and ideal for those who want quick access to both the historic center and the Triana bridge.
• Triana: the west-bank neighborhood for travelers who prefer an authentic, flamenc-influenced atmosphere, independent ceramic shops and local restaurants. A 10-minute walk or a short metro ride from the center.
• La Macarena: the northern historic quarter, popular with longer-stay visitors and those on tighter budgets. Less polished than Santa Cruz but genuinely local, with good street food and the impressive Macarena Basilica.
• Nervión / Los Remedios: modern residential districts favored by business travelers and families. Quieter at night, well served by public transport and generally more affordable than the central tourist belt.
• Palomares del Río / Rural outskirts: for travelers who prefer a house rental or rural retreat within commuting distance of Seville, trading urban buzz for space, gardens and lower nightly rates.

• Book early for spring: Semana Santa (Holy Week) and the Feria de Abril are the two most-visited weeks in the Andalusian calendar. Accommodation sells out months in advance and prices spike significantly, so secure your dates as soon as your trip is confirmed.
• Beat the summer heat strategically: July and August see temperatures regularly above 38 C. Choose accommodation with air conditioning (verify before booking, not all older properties have it) and plan sightseeing before 11 AM and after 7 PM.
• Use the metro and tram for cross-city moves: Seville has a single metro line and a compact tram network. A single ticket costs around 1.40 EUR. The historic center is largely pedestrian, so you will walk more than in most Spanish cities.
• Parking is complicated in the center: if you are arriving by car, book a hotel or apartment that offers a garage or check the location of the nearest public car park in advance. Street parking inside the old walls is almost nonexistent.
• Airport to center: Seville Airport (SVQ) is about 10 km from the city center. The EA airport bus runs every 20 to 30 minutes and drops passengers at the Puerta de Jerez and Santa Justa station for roughly 4 EUR. Taxis are metered and the ride typically takes 20 to 25 minutes depending on traffic.
