Where Guests Feel Most at Home in Gijón
Gijón, the largest city in Asturias, blends a working seafront, a lively old town, and easy access to the green Cantabrian coast. Choosing a hotel purely by star rating or price does not always tell the full story, which is why filtering by real traveller scores gives a more honest picture. The properties listed here have earned the strongest guest ratings across the city and its immediate surroundings, covering everything from a peaceful rural house a short drive outside the city to established four-star addresses in the commercial and southern districts.
The selection covers different price points and neighbourhoods, so you can match satisfaction levels with your own priorities. A rural guesthouse in Carreño leads the rankings with an exceptionally high score, while several four-star hotels in Gijón itself follow closely. Read on for a breakdown of each property and answers to the questions travellers ask most often before booking.

Frequently asked questions
Which hotel in Gijón has the highest guest satisfaction score?+
Casa Rural Selmo, located in Carreño about 10.6 km from central Gijón, holds the top guest rating of 4.7 out of 5. It is a three-star rural property, so it suits travellers who prefer a quieter, countryside atmosphere over a central urban location.
What are the best-rated hotels actually in the city centre of Gijón?+
Within the city centre itself, Hotel Hernán Cortés (4 stars) and CC Gijón (2 stars) both carry a guest score of 4.6 out of 5, making them the highest-rated options for travellers who want to stay close to Gijón's main attractions, beaches, and dining.
Are the best-rated hotels in Gijón affordable, or do higher scores mean higher prices?+
Not necessarily. CC Gijón scores 4.6 with a nightly rate around 166 euros, and the four-star AC Hotel Gijón by Marriott in the southern district scores 4.3 at roughly 158 euros per night, showing that strong guest satisfaction does not always require the highest spend. NH Gijón, by contrast, is the priciest option on this list while carrying the lowest score among the six properties.
Is it worth staying outside Gijón to get a better-rated hotel?+
It depends on your travel style. Casa Rural Selmo in Carreño earns the best score on this list and is only about 10.6 km from Gijón, making it feasible if you have a car or enjoy a rural setting. However, if easy access to the city's waterfront, restaurants, and public transport matters to you, the highly rated city-centre options like Hotel Hernán Cortés or CC Gijón are hard to beat given their location and guest satisfaction levels.
